Beginner and Intermediate 14 Week Progressive Contemporary Choreography Classes

Beginner Class
Thursday nights from 6:30-8:00 pm
This is a 14 week progressive contemporary choreographed dance series for beginners. This will be a slower paced class catered to those who are newer to choreographed movement and dance.
In this progressive you will:

Learn the basics of contemporary and jazz dance technique and gain confidence in your abilities

Stretch and Strengthen your body through dance conditioning and warm-ups
-
Learn beginner choreography and have completed a choreographed dance(s) rooted in story telling and ritual
-
Learn to tell stories through your unique movements and expressions with a group
-
Learn to sequence and choreograph a dance through collaboration with classmates
-
Have the opportunity and option to share and perform your dance (s) with the intermediate class as well as close family and friends
Intermediate Class
Friday nights from 6:30-8:00 pm

This intermediate series is a 14 week progression to practice and hone contemporary/ modern dance styles with some fun ballet sprinkled within. This class is suitable for beginners who love to be challenged and want to push themselves with more complex choreographies, or women who have a dancing background and want to get back into structured classes.
Classes will include:

strengthening and conditioning warm ups

breaking down contemporary and modern styles and learning specific techniques
-
applying these techniques into sequencing and learning short choreographies
-
learn how to use dance as a tool to tell stories and transform emotions.

an optional show with the combined beginners class to share what this experience has been like and demonstrate some of the choreographies (it’s all for fun!)
